Chapter Meeting- Advancements and Amendments to the Ever-Complex FMLA
Speaker: Jill Lashay, Esq.- Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) presents more compliance headaches than almost any other law affecting the workplace. This presentation will highlight recent changes to the FMLA, with a particular emphasis on (1) employer and employee notice obligations; (2) medical and fitness for duty certifications; and (3) Military Caregiver and Qualifying Exigency Leave. Topics for discussion will also include:
· What constitutes a qualifying exigency
· What constitutes a servicemember's serious injury or illness
· Tips for complying with the new Department of Labor certification forms
· How to address holiday leave and substitution of paid leave policies
An analysis of the most frequently asked FMLA questions will provide further working knowledge of FMLA requirements.
