HRP of Central PA hosts The Official SHRM Learning System College/University Program™ for those preparing for PHR ®/SPHR ® certification. This program, sponsored by Villanova University, consists of at least 30 contact hours of course instruction, with individuals attending a three-hour session one evening a week for thirteen weeks. In addition to the classroom experience, each participant receives his or her own set of the SHRM Learning System as well as special end-of-module tests and a final exam created especially for the college/university channel. About the Program
The course helps prepare participants for the HR Certification Institute's national examination for the Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®) certification. Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive the certificate in Professional Human Resource Management from Villanova University, along with 3.5 Continuing Education Units. For those taking the course for recertification purposes, successful completion will result in the awarding of 35 HR recertification credit hours.
New Curriculum for 2012
If you've been planning to earn your (PHR) or (SPHR) designation, now is the time to enroll in Villanova's updated and expanded exam preparation course based on the SHRM Learning System. The 2012 SHRM Learning System's content has been updated to reflect the new knowledge base including learning modules, test questions, glossary, flash cards, instructor books and slides. It also reflects a fundamental shift in product focus from print to online software, including mobile access via a smart phone.
Villanova University is a national leader in providing the SHRM Learning System course within an instructor-led and online environment, offering the program in full partnership with SHRM. The curriculum, designed by subject matter experts, covers the 2012 HR Body of Knowledge and includes application exercises that develop specific competencies and decision making skills. Course materials include six extensive modules that correspond to the six functional areas, responsibilities, and associated knowledge defined by the HR Certification Institute.

Certification Examination Eligibility Requirements
According to the HR Certification Institute, eligibility is as follows: PHR Eligibility: 4 years of demonstrated professional HR experience with less than a Bachelor's degree; 2 years of demonstrated professional experience with Bachelor's degree; 1 year of demonstrated professional HR experience with a Master's degree or higher. SPHR Eligibility: 7 years of demonstrated professional HR experience with less than a Bachelor's degree; 5 years of demonstrated professional HR experience with a Bachelor's degree; 4 years demonstrated professional HR experience with a Master's degree or higher.
