There are seven leadership areas SHRM has determined critical – or core – to the success of achieving its mission to Advance the Human Resources Management Profession and Serve the Human Resources Management Professional. The seven core leadership areas [CLA] areas are: College Relations, Diversity, Government Affairs, HR Certification Institute Certification, Membership, SHRM Foundation and Workforce Readiness.
College Relations
In support of the core College Relations Leadership Area, HRP of Central Pennsylvania supports the SHRM Student Chapter affiliated with Shippensburg University. SHIP's student chapter calls itself the Human Resources Management Club or HRMC. If you are a SHIP graduate or have family members who are SHIP students or graduates, you may be particularly interested to participate in our mentoring program. Whether you already have a connection to SHIP or not, please enroll to mentor a member of SHRM's student chapter at SHIP. Follow this link to enroll in the programand register to become a mentor. Don't Delay!

Workforce Readiness
For the Workforce Readiness Leadership area, HRP of Central PA looks to partner with the education sector, the government sector and community groups to encourage and develop workforce skills in our community. We help the education sector by publicizing job shadow and mock interview requests from high schools in our community. HRP has a representative on the Partnership for Career Development [PCD], an organization comprised of government, education and business representatives who focus on workforce readiness issues in Central PA.
A major program of the PCD is the Educator in the Workplace. The Educator in the Workplace is an effort to connect careers to the classroom. For the employer the commitment is for either a Tuesday or Thursday evening from 4:30pm to 7:30pm at the Employer's site to showcase the business & careers to 20 to 25 teachers. The teachers then bring that understanding of the business & careers back to the classroom. Employers are needed to host. If your employer has an interest whether this school year or a future year, please contact the Partnership for Career Development Executive Director Mike Berk at mike@crpcd.org
